Raffele Apartments: our holiday apartments in San Candido
Immerse yourself in history
The earliest records of this building date back to about 1340. In 1413, it was destroyed by fire and then rebuilt. However, it burned down again in 1554. A tanner called Raphael Prey (hence the name Raffele) rebuilt the property as we see it today.
The building has a long history behind it. We would be happy if you too became part of this story. Our comfortable apartments are renovated throughout, and furnished with care and attention to detail. They are a place to relax and feel fully at ease. The attractive setting is combined with an atmosphere of comfort and well-being.
These apartments can also be booked for longer periods.

By arrangement and with extra charge small pets can also be brought along.
As cleaning is much more elaborate, we charge a fee per day, without food.
We ask you to bring your own blanket and basket.
- In the event of late arrival or early departure, you will be charged the total cost of your stay
- Check-in: from 3:00 pm. to 6:00 pm. on day of arrival. If you plan to arrive after 6:00 pm., please phone to let us know
- Check-out: before 9:30 am. on day of departure
- Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the building
- Deposit: the reservation is confirmed only upon receipt of a deposit equal to 50% of the total price
- Our cancellation charges:
- Up to 30 days before due date of arrival: 0%
- From 29 days in advance until the day before arrival: 50%
- No show: 100%

How to get here
The Raffele apartments are in a different building to the Residence Wachtler. So please leave your vehicle in the car park opposite the “Lindwurm” Pub (Via Josef Stauder 1, 39038 San Candido). The Raffele building is right next door.
Coming from Austria
Turn left off the main Val Pusteria road towards the centre of San Candido, and drive over the level crossing.
Coming from Cortina/Dobbiaco, or from the motorway (Bressanone exit)
Turn right off the main Val Pusteria road towards the centre of San Candido, and drive over the level crossing.
Keep right and continue for 130 metres to the Via Mantinger intersection, where you turn right onto Via Peter-Paul-Rainer.
You’ll see the Raffele building just ahead.
Follow the road for 50 metres, then take the first turning to the left and cross the bridge into Via Josef Stauder.
The “Lindwurm Pub” and its car park are just ahead on the right.

Coming from Sesto/Passo Monte Croce
Follow Via Sesto towards Dobbiaco, then continue on Via Matthias Schranzhofer past the Monte Baranci ski lifts.
At the crossroads, continue straight on towards the town centre (N.B.: do not follow the road to Dobbiaco!)
Carry on along Via Matthias Schranzhofer, keep right at the intersection and drive past the police station, then continue along Via Peter-Paul-Rainer.
Turn right at the crossroads onto the bridge, and join Via Josef Stauder.
The “Lindwurm Pub” and its car park are just ahead on the right.

Check-In
- You can check in at the reception area for the Wachtler Apartments in the pedestrian zone (opposite the pharmacy). They are only a 3-minute walk from the car park.
- Go back onto the main road and turn right. Continue straight on towards the centre, joining Via Peter-Paul-Rainer. Cross the bridge and drive into the pedestrian zone. Continue for about 200 metres until you come to the Wachtler shop on your right. Turn right into the alley by the shop. The entrance to the reception area is on the left, inside the building with the signboard “Wachtler Residence – Dolomythos”.
Turn right towards the pedestrian zone and cross the bridge.
You are at the start of the pedestrian zone.
After another 200 metres, you will see the Wachtler shop on the right (opposite the pharmacy). Turn right into the alley by the shop.
The entrance to the reception area is on the left, inside the building with the signboard “Wachtler Residence – Dolomythos”.
- You will be given the keys to your apartment at the reception desk, as well as the device for opening the garage door
- You will also be given detailed instructions about how to access the car park
- Please leave your luggage in the car. Just bring your ID card with you for checking-in

The Wachtler Story
The Wachtlers have always been great adventurers. They were among the first to climb the Dolomites and when they first saw skis being used in Nordic countries, they were very enthusiastic about this new way of travelling.
